You will be responsible for submitting 5 new Case Reports to complete your Animal Aromatherapy Specialist Certification – Level 2. The purpose of these reports is to record your experiences and apply what you are learning. These reports will help make it easier for you to demonstrate the core competencies you need to be an effective Animal Aromatherapist. They will also help you think about and reflect upon your work and demonstrate experience before completing your certification. As an added bonus, completing these case study reports will help you develop the excellent habit of documenting your cases.
✓ Submit at least one case study report based on physical benefits of essential oils.
✓ Submit at least one case study report based on emotional or behavioral benefits of essential oils.
✓ The remaining three case study reports can be from either category based on the situations your encounter and what the animals need (physical and/or emotional/behavioral). Submit five case study reports total.
✓ Use five DIFFERENT animals for your case studies. (e.g. If you used your friend’s dog, Bella, for one case study, please do not use her for another case study for this course). Also, please avoid using the same animals that you used for your Level 1 case studies.
✓ Case studies can be performed your own animals, those at a shelter, a friends animal, or a client. While all five can be your own animals, we highly recommend getting experience working with other animal owners. (In previous classes, the most successful students that continue to thrive in as animal aromatherapy practitioners DID use other people’s animals to get into the practice of doing consultations in a safe environment with people they already knew.)
✓ For the case studies in this course, you must meet with the animal (and owner) IN PERSON, not just on the phone, email, or zoom.
It is an excellent practice to keep good records of your animal aromatherapy appointments and case studies. It is recommended that you fill out the case study report information in your own document (Word, Google Docs, etc.) FIRST and then copy and paste the information into the Case Study Submission form.
Every Case Study Report will include the following sections:
✓ Your name
✓ Patient Name and Signalment (Name, Species, Age, Weight, Gender, Breed) – do NOT include owners name for the purposes of this report (you can and should keep it in your own records.)
✓ Date
✓ History / Owner Concern (What is going on, how long has it been happening, any other relevant information)
✓ Any Veterinary Diagnosis (enter N/A if none)
✓ Observations (Subjective / Objective, any symptoms)
✓ Physical and/or Emotional / Behavioral concern?
✓ Possible Oils to offer & WHY
✓ Self – Selection (what you offered, what was selected if any)
✓ Oils used (specific oil, Dilution, method of application, carrier if applicable, location of application if topical)
✓ Initial Response
✓ Response after essential oil session
✓ Recommendations given to owner (if applicable)
✓ Follow up
✓ Reflection on your experience
